Terrace Downs High Country Resort Course offers a par 72, 18-hole championship golf course, rated as one of the top courses and golfing destinations in New Zealand. The Clearwater Resort Course is a par 72 championship course is home to the HSBC NZ PGA Championship. Designed by John Darby in consultation with New Zealand golfing legend, Sir Bob Charles, the course combines elements of links golf inspired by the great Scottish courses with parkland golf, more reminiscent of Florida.  Playable year-round, the course meanders around a succession of spring-fed lakes and trout-filled streams, with uninterrupted views of the spectacular Southern Alps.

The oldest club in Christchurch, the Shirley Links Course where the course will surprise you as its a real gem, although not a resort course it is as good as any golf course in the South Island and has held plenty of NZ Opens, as well as numerous amateur events, it also has water hazards and plenty of bunkers.

The Russley Golf Course is one of the best Christchurch courses with water hazards loads of fairway and greenside bunkers, the condition of the course is always in top notch order.  With tree lined fairways and deep rough it is one of the best tests of golf in Christchurch and has a remarkable layout which has hosted several NZ Opens over the years.

A course that has been improving in leaps and bounds over the last ten years is the Templeton Golf Course where the greens are back to there best and with 5 great par 5's one with a water hazard as well as some short and long par 4 holes this course keeps you on your toes.  Peter the resident pro is a great bloke and will make you feel very welcome, and they have a haggle competition most days.

One of Christchurch's underrated gems is the Coringa Golf Course, it's a championship length course off the blue tees, and still a great test of golf off the forward tees, it is a traditional parkland's layout which has it's golf holes going in all different directions, it's one of those courses where after 5 holes you wouldn't know which direction the clubhouse was. It has a great balance of short and long holes and it has hosted a lot of big amateur events in the last few years.

Waitikri Golf Course has been improving in leaps and bounds with the rebuilding of several holes and a brand new clubhouse, It is a par 70 with a great par 5 which has a water hazard and is a risk reward hole, this layout is easy walking and very tight off the tees, the second hole being one of the toughest tee shots in Christchurch.

The Waimari Beach Golf Course, which has just undergone a massive tree felling process and the addition of a new water hazard, has a reputation for having the fastest and truest greens in the region, it is also very close to the beach and with a lot of the trees gone gives it a true links feel.

Methven Golf Club is known as one of the finest country courses in New Zealand, with its stunning views of Mt Hutt Ski Field and the Southern Alps.  This well established 18 hole golf course (founded 1924) is planted with a beautiful selection of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs making it a challenge for all golfing abilities.

The Akaroa Golf Course 18 hole golf course occupies 28 hectares of undulating country at the head of the picturesque Akaroa Harbour. It is regarded as one of the most scenic courses in Canterbury.
